Dave Mynne ‘The Odyssey’ (Greek Stuff)
February 17, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
£9.00The Odyssey, Live Theatre in Pentridge, Dorset…
We are very pleased to announce the live performance of The Odyssey, adapted by Dave Mynne of Rabbit Theatre.
17th February 2017
This one man theatre performance is in association with ArtsReach Dorset.
The Odyssey (Greek Stuff)
Picture this…
1198 BC. Ancient Greece.
Figs and olives ripen under clear blue skies.
The seat of learning and philosophy
Where poets write the tragedies.
A land for the gods…
And heroes. The kingdom of Ithaca is ruled by Odysseus…
From the makers of ‘Great Expectations’ and ‘Dracula’ comes a tale more exciting than excitement itself: The ODYSSEY! Based on Homer’s epic tale, it’s Greek stuff… all the good bits with the boring stuff removed.
David Mynne’s skill with just a few simple props, a rubber face and clear and concise storytelling will fill the evening with drama and delight! This year he’s going to hell and back in the company of Heroes, Gods and Monsters. A host of exciting (and daft) characters including a one-eyed Cyclops, a six-headed monster and the terrifying Sea God Poseidon will conjure up a mighty storm and keep you on the edge of your seat. This production arrives in our village through Artsreach, the counties touring scheme and arts charity. Suitable 12+

FAQ’s
Where can I park?
Parking is situated on the village green, adjacent to the village hall. This is a grassed area. We respectfully ask that no cars are parked in the village itself as we need to allow emergency vehicle access.
Do you have facilities for the less abled?
Our village hall has an accessible toilet. The hall has a side door with disabled access. If you cannot walk well from the car park to the village green, please speak to our parking attendant who will advise about drop off access and in severe cases may be able to offer special parking arrangements.
Where doe’s the money go?
This event is held to raise funds for Pentridge Village Hall.
Our Village Hall is a former school with an abundance of character. For the past few years, funds have been raised (including grants from the National Lottery and other sources) to enable the loving restoration and refurbishment of this historic building.
Recent works on the hall have included restorative structural work, a new oak floor, soft furnishings, a new kitchen and a disabled toilet. Fundraising has also enabled the purchase of new chairs and tables and a current outbuilding project for the purposes of storage.
The hall is now available to use as a community building and for private hire. Activities and events are run by volunteers and fundraising efforts are in place to enable continued renovation, upkeep and maintenance on the hall and adjoining school house.
